Welcome!

Greetings!  This is my build site detailing the build up of my Race Car Replicas GT40 clone.  The RCR40 as it is known, has an aluminum monocoque frame.  The original GT40s had a steel monocoque frame made from hundreds of stamped steel pieces welded together. The RCR40's aluminum chassis is much simpler yet is still a monocoque design.

I have always wanted a GT40.  However, when I began looking at the kits, there were only a few and only one in the USA - ERA.  ERA has been making GT40s since 1981 and they make a damn fine car.  However, it was beyond what I could afford.

In the interim, I built a very nice high-end Factory Five Cobra.  I learned alot about building a car from the ground up.  When I heard about RCR, I sold my Cobra and placed an order for a GT40 MkI complete with right hand drive, right hand shift, and Gulf flares.

I will be replicating original chassis number 1051P.  The car will be painted custom blue pearl with an orange stripe (2003 Lamborghini Arancio Ishtar, PPG Code 0057) that wraps around the front end.

I hope you enjoy the chronicles of my build.  I update the website frequently, so come back often and check the progress.  And be sure to sign my guestbook.  Suggestions graciously received.

APRIL 30TH UPDATE - THE CAR IS PAINTED AND REASSEMBLED.  IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!!  CHECK THE END OF THE PAINT SECTION FOR PICS.  I'LL BE POSTING MORE PICS AS THE FINISHING DETAILS ARE ADDED.

3 July 2008 Update: Well, we are proceeding to install the correct flywheel over the 4th of July weekend.  With luck, we'll accomplish this and prepare for the first start shortly thereafter.

Cheers!
